Our approach to learning with LEGO bricks

BrickBuilders has been built over several years, commencing in 2019, as an effective educational support. Our core after-school program combines learning, the love of LEGO bricks, and a later school pick-up for parents, while our early years and incursion program provide valuable in-school-hours learning enrichment.

Seven BrickBuilders streams include a mix of STEM, social science, and creative lessons designed to inspire and challenge participants with the possibilities around them...

Exploring geographic regions and cultures.

Illustrating important dates and events close to lesson date.

Dedicated lessons that master LEGO brick techniques and creativity.

Structural and mechanical lessons based on engineering

Explaining how things in society interact to make a whole.

Understanding our natural world, and human impacts.

Digital/robotic lessons utilising a range of control interfaces from remote controls, tile coding, and MIT Scratch.

.... delivered in year-level groups and outcomes...

Early Years(Pre Prep)

Our early years delivery focusses on fine motor and social development through our light educational lessons.

Junior(Prep - 2)

Increasing learning outcomes, introductory robotics and coding, with a focus on teamwork.

Senior(Years 3 - 6)

Our most advanced outcomes, full learning concepts, and increasing STEM intergration.

After school

Our after-school program is the cornerstone of our educational delivery. We deliver Prep-Year 6 sessions at several schools from the school bell to 4/4.30 pm daily during the school term.

Combining lessons that support educational curriculum and a later pick-up for parents, participants enjoy the wildly popular medium of LEGO bricks as they explore and learn.

Across our year-level groups, students receive the same lessons, adjusted to the relevant age outcomes.

Commencement process

  • An agreement is made between us and the school to deliver BrickBuilders. Sessions are delivered weekly on the same day throughout the term. We will also tailor the STEM and social science lesson ratio to the school’s wishes.
  • In line with the school’s policy and procedures, we develop our procedure for delivery at the school and provide copies of our Blue Card records, delivery standards, Child Safety policies, and insurance.
  • Parents book directly on our website. Bookings are usually taken in term blocks or, in the case of a mid-term commencement, for the remainder of the term. Classes are allocated by age-level groups.
  • Sessions are delivered by our trained Creative Learning Educators – a combined group including qualified teachers and tertiary students in education or STEM areas of study.
  • Lesson content includes multimedia and print briefing materials, all LEGO bricks, robotics, iPads, and take-home materials.
  • Lesson outcomes are available to both parents and the school via cloud folders and regular emails.

Incursions

Early Years

BrickBuilders lessons for Pre-Prep students are typically delivered as an incursion during the day. The commencement process for this is similar to the after-school session engagement, which is also covered in this section.

One-off incursions

The BrickBuilders program is also available for one-off bookings that tailor custom lessons to single classes or entire schools. These sessions have ranged from adapting our existing lessons to matching important school initiatives. We can fully adapt our activities to suit the theme or educational outcomes required. BrickBuilders can create an engaging experience for your students.
